The TL Audio C-1 is a dual-channel valve compressor that blends solid-state precision with classic tube warmth. Each channel uses a low-noise preamp followed by two ECC83/12AX7A valve stages, delivering smooth, musical compression with excellent transparency and minimal distortion. Continuously variable controls for input gain, threshold, ratio, attack, release and make-up gain make it easy to dial in anything from subtle glue to firm dynamic control. Built-in mic preamps, stereo front-panel auxiliary inputs for instruments, and a 90 Hz high-pass filter add everyday flexibility in the studio. Balanced XLR line and mic inputs, balanced/unbalanced outputs, sidechain insert points and switchable -10 dB/+4 dB operation provide versatile connectivity. Stereo Link mode ganges key parameters for coherent processing of stereo sources, while illuminated VU meters switch between output level and gain reduction. With a flat 20 Hz–40 kHz response and program-dependent behaviour, the C-1 excels on vocals, instruments and mix bus duties, adding roundness and presence without sacrificing detail. Ideal for tracking, mix processing and mastering sweetening.
