Each channel features low-noise preamplification into two valve stages for smooth, warm compression that retains clarity and detail. Continuously variable controls for input gain, threshold, ratio, attack, release and make-up gain make it easy to move from gentle glue to assertive dynamic control. Practical studio features include built-in mic preamps, stereo front-panel instrument/aux inputs, and a 90 Hz high-pass filter to tame proximity or low-end build-up. Connectivity is comprehensive with balanced XLR mic and line inputs, balanced/unbalanced outputs, sidechain insert points, and switchable -10 dB/+4 dB level operation. Stereo Link ganges key parameters for coherent processing of stereo material, while illuminated VU meters switch between output level and gain reduction. With a flat 20 Hz–40 kHz response and program-dependent behaviour, the C-1 enhances vocals, instruments and mix buses, adding roundness and presence without sacrificing transparency.
