The Dan Dugan E-1A is a renowned automatic mixing controller designed to keep multi-mic events clean, consistent and intelligible without constant fader riding. Connecting via mixer insert points, it uses real-time gain sharing to open active microphones and attenuate unused ones, delivering fast, transparent crossfades without the artefacts associated with noise gates. The E-1A provides eight channels of unbalanced analogue I/O and can expand to 16 channels via ADAT. It operates at 24-bit resolution with 44.1/48 kHz sync to the incoming clock, helping to preserve audio quality in both live sound and broadcast applications. Reduce feedback, minimise studio spill and maintain stable mix levels as speakers change, all while freeing the engineer to focus on tonal balance and capture. Multiple units can be linked for large systems, scaling up to 128 channels when required. Compact at 9.5 inches wide and 1U high, it integrates neatly into rigs and mobile setups. Ideal for conferences, panel discussions, theatre, houses of worship and broadcast where speech clarity and reliability are critical.
