The L-Acoustics K3 is a compact, full-range, long-throw line array loudspeaker designed for mid-sized mobile live music events, festivals, corporate deployments, and high-end fixed installations. It delivers the uncompromised sonic signature and low-frequency power of large-format touring systems but in an enclosure that is 33% smaller and 25% lighter than the flagship K2.
Key Specifications
- Maximum SPL: 143 dB.
- Frequency Bandwidth: 42 Hz to 20 kHz.
- Transducers: 2 × 12" neodymium LF drivers, 1 × 4" diaphragm HF compression driver.
- Enclosure Type: 2-way active (requires two channels of amplification).
- Weight: 43 kg (95 lbs).
- Dimensions: 907 mm (W) × 357 mm (H) × 429 mm (D).
Core Technologies
- Panflex Symmetrical/Asymmetrical Directivity: Mechanically adjustable fins change horizontal dispersion into four distinct patterns. Designers can choose 70° or 110° symmetrical, or 90° asymmetrical (left or right) to avoid room reflections.
- L-Vents Lamina Venting: Specially molded side panels prevent turbulent airflow at port exits. This ensures massive, distortion-free low-frequency power down to 42 Hz without always requiring an array subwoofer.
- DOSC Waveguide: Features an isophasic cylindrical wavefront across the entire audio bandwidth, ensuring seamless acoustic coupling when flying multiple boxes.
Amplification and Deployment
- Amplifier Matching: A single L-Acoustics LA12X amplified controller can power up to six K3 enclosures. Touring racks like the LA-RAK II AVB manage network distribution.
- System Integration: It is acoustically and mechanically compatible with the KS28 subwoofer to extend sub-bass response down to 25 Hz.
- Rigging: Utilises a built-in captive 4-point rigging system. Inter-element angles can be safely pre-aligned on the ground using the K3-CHARIOT.
